A Dream and an Awakening
In the car my refuge of metal and glass I tried to escape my door opened to a criminal pass It was a menace a dictator's hired hand It trapped me in its web denied my command I fought with my hands with my soul and my plea To reject all its malice and maintain my own me And I fled yes I fled but the dread lingered on A terror in the air till the spirit was gone Next vast hallways forever without end Silent commerce where no life would attend In an elevator spirits still tried to ascend Now broken shadows with no power to mend I saw the old ones inert on the seat A child with soft touches searched for a life to meet Broken families lost souls homes without light A future erased nailed to the dark of the night In the presidency the system was frail Discussions were empty the clock started to fail The sectarian faker choked the life from the street Where is the wise purpose that goodness should meet Did we sin with our naivety with a boundless trust Now liberties are screaming for values and justice Oh Freedom the dawning that lights up the road You are not a gift you're the forge where fate is bestowed May the people stand up they will not have a tyrant's reign And the chosen guardian will not work in vain With laws made of steel and conviction so true Defend life the law and property the nation too May the power of a flood never sweep us away May reckless benevolence not sink us this day Before the immense wall of the great concrete dam A man was awaiting the order's grim command A drastic conclusion a unique bitter pain To sacrifice all as the final campaign That few might escape from the tyranny's spell An infamous price under a sky full of gall But the enemy already its virus had sown In the heart of the government its presence was known The order was given the button was pressed The great wall gave way the fury unleashed The civilization drowned put to the test What once was life the torrent erased from the rest Oh Freedom the dawning that lights up the road You are not a gift you're the forge where fate is bestowed May the people stand up they will not have a tyrant's reign And the chosen guardian will not work in vain With laws made of steel and conviction so true Defend life the law and property the nation too May the power of a flood never sweep us away May reckless benevolence not sink us this day It was a dream I swear a Pharaoh in me Lean cows devouring the future I now see A premonition an ancient scream in the air That "reckless benevolence" leads us to despair It's the alert now lit the clamor so strong History will judge us if our freedom is wrong Oh Freedom the dawning that lights up the road You are not a gift you're the forge where fate is bestowed May the people stand up they will not have a tyrant's reign And the chosen guardian will not work in vain With laws made of steel and conviction so true Defend life the law and property the nation too May the power of a flood never sweep us away May reckless benevolence not sink us this day Remember the voice of Churchill in his doctrine "He who bows to the tyrant sinks with him in his ruin"
