Evermore – Part VI: The Overlooked Hints

To experience the full story, I invite you to begin with Part I. This story is a work of fiction. To be continued… ————————————————— Sunday afternoon. The garden of an old house bathed in soft golden light. A fountain whispers, and a few dry leaves drift across the stone table. The Heroine sits quietly, facing her dear friend — a writer many years her senior. In the writer’s hands rests an old letter: a poem her husband wrote when they were young. ——— *Writer: Ah, our shining news star — taking a rare day off. Even when you’re not reporting, your eyes still carry the stories of the world. Tell me, what have you left behind today? The studio… or the noise? *Heroine: Both, I suppose. I just wanted a little quiet… and I missed your garden. *Writer: The heart remembers what reason has long forgotten. Tell me, child — do you still dream? *Heroine: Yes… sometimes those dreams feel too real. (She briefly tells the writer about that dream.) And lately… I’ve encountered a few strange things, perhaps just coincidences. *Writer: Coincidences? Hmm… perhaps so. Here, this is a poem my husband wrote when he was young. Curiously, it seems to echo your dreams. Would you read it aloud? (Heroine starts reading) *Heroine: The Dream I Could Not Name I saw you once, in a dream I could not name. Beneath a sky I had never seen, you turned — and light poured through your hair. I thought it was morning, but it was memory. In that dream, I followed a river; it spoke of a bridge — half built, half gone. “Cross it,” it said, “before it fades. For love will always return by the path from which it left.” If one day you wake, and the scent of rain feels strangely familiar, follow it — it will lead you to where our laughter still lingers, by the water, at the far edge of the dream. I do not know if this is prayer or promise, but every time I dream of dawn, I see you walking toward me through time, as if you have always known the way. *Writer: He once said that the dream felt older than himself; as if what he wrote was not imagined, but remembered. I did turn back — not out of pity, but out of understanding. Love isn’t what remains flawless; it’s what we rebuild when both are willing. When two souls meet, it isn’t only to love — but to mirror one another, to awaken reflection, to learn and to grow together. *Heroine: The white chrysanthemums, the man my brother introduced… and the coffee… Could all of these… be connected? (“The Dream I Could Not Name” — Excerpt) “Cross it, before it fades…” “For love returns by the same path it once left.” I saw you once, in a dream I could not name — beneath a sky I had never seen. Follow the scent, follow the rain, until you find the laughter by the water again. I see you — walking toward me through time, as if you already knew the way. ————————————————— These lyrics are written and owned by Rachel’s Original (Rachel Liu).
