Queendom of One [The Velhymn Saga - Finale]
What I've left, will stay behind. And I'll rebuild... a Queendom of One. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* What is Velhymn? The Velhymn saga is an EP that blends metal and rock with electronic genres, and visually combines gothic, cyberpunk, and musical aesthetics. The story is set in a world where music rules over everything, and writing a melody is the equivalent of issuing a new law. The character of the Queen represents ordinary people, the world they build around themselves, and the things they are familiar with, to the point that we resist change, and are sometimes unable to think outside the box when facing adversity, whether out of fear or simply because we don't know any better. When the Queen's realm starts to unravel, she keeps rewriting the same melodies over and over, because those are the ones she has always relied on, and therefore they must work. The character of the Oracle Aethervox, the Weaver, represents fate: our scapegoat when things don't go the way we want. We tend to believe that failure is fate's doing. The truth is, we struggle to accept that sometimes things just don't work... for no particular reason. Aethervox dwells in the Cavern of Old Echoes, a place where they craft a "Composition" for each living person, in the form of a colored crystal. This reinforces the idea that we believe everything is predetermined, and that fate is the easiest way to make peace with our failures. Lastly, the Queen's decision to shatter her Composition and become a Noself is not merely an act of self-affirmation: it is a need to break free from the constraints that locked her into a form someone else had chosen for her, and to discover what she can become when fully unleashed. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much for listening to the whole series and for enjoying it as much as I enjoyed creating it. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* [Verse] An echo resonates from within Like feather's touch, it's a gentle breeze A forgotten ghost, from afar calls It tickles my senses, and then flees [Pre-chorus] What have I forgotten? What have I lost? What did I care about That I miss the most? [Chorus] It's a solo journey The one I've embarked on There's no past, just the present To rebuild this Queendom of One (Oooooh) It's both bitter and sweet Like a lullaby I sing no more Nothing's left, only myself I'm all I have, in this Queendom of One [Verse] A choir sings "Velhymn" in my head But I don't know what that should mean The word "queen" is blown by the wind Is that what I could have been? [Pre-chours] What am I missing? Is this farewell? The void within runs deep Why am I left with only a shell? [Chorus] It's a solo journey The one I've embarked on There's no past, just the present To rebuild this Queendom of One (Oooooh) It's both bitter and sweet Like a lullaby I sing no more Nothing's left, only myself I'm all I have, in this Queendom of One [Bridge] I've got to go, I cannot stay There are no games for me to play (Oooooh) I've left something, it will stay behind Cause I was bound, I was so blind! (Oooooh) A melody has died, leaving no trace I'll write a new one... at my own pace. [Final chorus] It's a solo journey The one I've embarked on There's no past, just the present To rebuild this Queendom of One (Oooooh) It's both bitter and sweet Like a lullaby I sing no more Nothing's left, only myself I'm all I have, in this Queendom of One [Final instrumental] "The former Queen of Velhymn had taken her decision: becoming a Noself was the necessary sacrifice to be finally unleashed." "Amnesiac, lost but free, she could now shuffle off her former self and seek for a new form, free from all unrequested constraints." ["And the Weaver? Well… there was nothing they could do about that."
