Crown of Thorns and Rust

[Intro] [low vocal register]Ash in the chalice Candles drowned in grime Choir of broken gargoyles Counting out the time[/low vocal register] [Verse 1] Rust on the altar rail Rot in the holy veil You kiss the cracked icon Ask if it still feels pain Nails in a velvet box Buried in your nightstand drawer You say they hold you together I see you coming undone [Chorus] Crown of thorns and rust Digging deeper with every touch You worship ruin Call it trust Bleeding slow beneath the crust Crown of thorns and rust Wear it proud like sacred dust If this is love If this is us Let it crush Let it crush [Verse 2] Boots in the stagnant flood Dragging through cathedral mud Lightning grips the stonework Carves your name in blackened gold Strings scream a requiem Over marching Molten chords You smile through a mouth of graves Say the dead still keep you warm [Bridge] [whispered vocals]You kneel in the oil-thick rain Counting every crack in the glass Every saint has teeth like yours Every prayer sinks fast[/whispered vocals] [growled backing]Sink fast Sink fast[/growled backing] Then sudden fire in your throat You rise You rise You rise [Chorus] [Chorus]
