[Verse 1] Morning light in Fife and the questions remain How should Scotland progress, what should she retain Citizens discussing on a bus or train Looking for conclusions that evidence will sustain [Verse 2] Any former teacher knows the value of a class Helping learners test ideas long before they pass Questions sharpen thinking like sunlight shines through glass While honest understanding is always built to last [Chorus] On a Fife morning the conversation starts Facts and constitutional questions filling hearts Understanding grows when everyone takes part Knowledge is the strongest place to start [Verse 3] A researcher checks out sources before a claim is made Keeping every argument carefully displayed Separating proven facts from rumours that may fade Respect for honest inquiry is the strongest aid [Verse 4] One generation studies, another takes the turn History gives lessons to whoever wants to learn The candle of inquiry continues still to burn And every thoughtful citizen gives something in return [Chorus] On a Fife morning the conversation starts Facts and constitutional questions filling hearts Understanding grows when everyone takes part Knowledge is the strongest place to start ©2026 Trevor Swistchew.
