[Title: COUNT WHAT WASN'T TAKEN] [Intro] Before you tell me what you're gonna lose— stop. Breathe. Feel that? START THERE. [Verse 1] The old voice wakes up before the morning does. Don't get happy. Don't get comfortable. Don't love it too much. It'll be taken. So tomorrow breaks into today and steals the gift before anybody takes it away. You grieve what is still here. Fight what hasn't happened. Answer an old room in a house that room ain't in. [Pre-Chorus] But there's another Voice. Not Bob. Not shame. Not yesterday. Open the Book. WHAT DID GOD SAY? [Chorus] COUNT WHAT WASN'T TAKEN. You've got breath— THANK GOD FOR BREATH. You've got hands— THANK GOD FOR HANDS. You've got this moment— DON'T GIVE IT TO THE PAST. Hold that rock. Open that Book. Let your eyes rest on the page. Don't lose what you have because you're scared of what you might lose. COUNT WHAT WASN'T TAKEN. START RIGHT NOW. [Verse 2] You learned happiness could cost you. Smile too wide— here comes the work. Get excited— somebody finds a burden. Laugh too loud— somebody shuts it down. So misery learned— If I stay down, maybe they'll leave me alone. If I don't receive, nobody can take. If I don't love, nothing can leave. [Silence] But look what fear just did. IT BECAME THE TAKER BEFORE THE TAKER EVEN CAME. [Chorus] COUNT WHAT WASN'T TAKEN. You've got breath. You've got hands. You've got today. THANK GOD FOR WHAT IS HERE. Hold that rock. Open that Book. Let the good sit for one whole minute. Don't lose what you have because you're scared of what you might lose. COUNT WHAT WASN'T TAKEN. [Long Instrumental] [Bridge] When correction comes— shame says— YOU'RE BAD. When somebody disagrees— THEY'RE AGAINST YOU. When somebody tries to help— FIGHT. And when I say— "Something needs to change"— shame translates— "YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH." [Silence] NO. THAT IS NOT WHAT I SAID. I said something needs to change. I did not say you are worthless. I said this pattern is hurting us. I did not say YOU ARE THE WOUND. I said I need you to hear me. I did not say you're not good enough to love. SHAME ADDED THAT. [Build] I can be wrong without becoming WRONG ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I can confess. I can turn. I can learn. I can change. Changing doesn't prove I was worthless. I can hear truth without crawling back into shame. The old voice says— DEFEND YOURSELF. The Book says— TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL THINE HEART. The old voice says— YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. STOP. WHO SAID THAT? [Breakdown] Pick up the rock. ONE THING. Thank Him. Open the Bible. ONE VERSE. Read it. Fear tells you what somebody might do. THE BOOK TELLS YOU WHAT GOD SAID. "He hates me." STOP. Did he say that? "He thinks I'm stupid." STOP. Did he say that? "I'm not good enough." STOP. WHO SAID THAT? "He's leaving me." STOP. Did he say that? [Silence] WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT DID SHAME ADD? [Build] You don't have to solve eight years tonight. Break ONE PATTERN. Hear the sentence that was actually spoken. Don't answer the sentence shame added. Let a question be a question. Let help be help. Let correction be correction— NOT CONDEMNATION. Let kindness land. Let laughter stay in the house. Let happiness have somewhere TO LIVE. [Final Chorus] COUNT WHAT WASN'T TAKEN! You've got breath— THANK GOD FOR BREATH! You've got hands— THANK GOD FOR HANDS! You've got this moment— DON'T GIVE IT TO THE PAST! When the old voice says— "YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH"— ASK IT— WHO SAID THAT? Don't let shame put words in my mouth. Don't let yesterday put words in God's mouth. When fear says everything beautiful will be taken— DON'T BOW TO THE PROPHECY. COUNT WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN TODAY. I will not sacrifice today's gift to something I fear might happen TOMORROW. Receive it. Thank Him. Believe Him. START RIGHT NOW. [Outro] Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. The old voice predicts. Shame translates. Fear rehearses. But God has spoken. [Silence] JESUS IS THE LORD.
