Relax

You came in tired Shoes full of rain Sat by the window Carried your name Your hands were shaking Like little white birds I said, take your time Don’t waste your words Breathe in slow Let it come down No need to run No need right now Relax, relax Hold on to me Relax, relax Let it go easy Relax, relax You can come back Relax, relax I’ll keep you safe The kettle clicked once The room turned warm You stared at the floor Like after a storm I watched your face Unfold from the ache Like glass in sunlight Like a deep breath breaking Breathe in slow Let it come down No need to run No need right now Relax, relax Hold on to me Relax, relax Let it go easy Relax, relax You can come back Relax, relax I’ll keep you safe Stay in the moment Don’t chase the past The ache gets smaller When it can pass Lean into silence Let it unwind One small soft heartbeat At a time Relax, relax Hold on to me Relax, relax Let it go easy Relax, relax You can come back Relax, relax I’ll keep you safe Relax, relax Don’t break tonight Relax, relax We’ll make it right
