The Turning of the Light [Verse 1] The river takes the fallen leaf And carries it beyond the shore Not ending what the leaf has been But asking what it may become once more [Verse 2] The stars burn through the midnight blue Then fade where morning opens wide Each ending leaves a door ajar Each breath becomes another tide [Chorus] Death is not the death of life It is the changing of the song A different hand upon the wheel A new road where the old road’s gone [Verse 3] The broken ship beneath the waves Becomes a home for silver light And every piece the sea has claimed Joins something vast beyond our sight [Verse 4] So let the world turn swift and bright Its endless gears beneath the sky We take our place, we change our names We learn new ways to breathe and fly [Bridge] There is a purpose in the dust A clarity in letting go The universe, that living wheel Keeps making more than we can know [Final Chorus] Death is not the death of life Only a doorway through the blue A breath released, a role renewed A different light returning through [Outro] The river turns, the stars renew The tide moves on, the old becomes new
