[Verse 1] A dark shadow cast upon the earth Bringing thorns and thistles Disease and death Storms and famine Violence and war The shadow claimed the light was to blame [Chorus] Shadow lies Light reveals Shadow hides What darkness conceals [Verse 2] But the light brings sunshine and rain Daily bread for everything Lofty trees evergreen Lovely birds with happy songs Flowers upon the thistles Roses upon the thorns [Chorus] Shadow lies Light reveals Shadow hides What darkness conceals [Pre-Bridge] The shadow called the light a harsh judge A demanding master Keeping score Counting faults Watching for failure Waiting to condemn [Bridge] But the light stepped down into the darkness Infinite love clothed in flesh The Father’s love revealed Darkness unmasked No harsh judge No demanding master No condemning ruler [Final Chorus] Shadows fade Light breaks through Shadows flee Before the truth Darkness falls Morning comes Light reveals What love has done
