In the Middle of the Bridge
“In the Middle of the Bridge” [Verse 1] Far behind me, lights were burning, a little village greeted the dawn. Bushes and trees, rooftops and city, everything I knew was farther on. And I lived there, out in the middle, over a depth no eyes could see. Wood beneath my feet felt steady, like that bridge belonged to me. [Pre-Chorus] I wasn't there for just a moment, I knew that bridge, I called it home. One side whispered with the living, the other breathed beyond the fog. [Chorus] I lived in the middle of the bridge, between the here and the unknown. Behind me was the world of people, ahead, the mist and walls of stone. Through the rocks, a narrow passage disappeared where shadows grew. I don't know where that bridge was leading, but I know that place was true. [Verse 2] Jagged rocks rose up before me, like silent gates without a key. Between them drifted endless darkness, cold and quiet, calling me. Sometimes I watched the distant village, sometimes where the daylight died. I never had to choose between them, the bridge itself was where I'd reside. [Chorus] I lived in the middle of the bridge, between the here and the unknown. Behind me was the world of people, ahead, the mist and walls of stone. Through the rocks, a narrow passage disappeared where shadows grew. I don't know where that bridge was leading, but I still remember every view. [Bridge] Maybe no one gave it a name, maybe no map could lead me home. But I remember wood beneath me, I remember mist, I remember stone. [Final Chorus] I lived in the middle of the bridge, where one world faded into night. Far behind, the city shimmered, far ahead, no trace of light. And if someday I find that passage, I'll remember where to go. Somewhere between the world and darkness stands the bridge I used to know. [Outro] Still I remember... the wooden road beneath my feet. Still I remember... where the two worlds used to meet. 👁️🗨️🎶
