[Verse 1] Jacob was a wild one, everybody knew Hair like a raven, eyes of sky-blue Lived down past the county line, in a shack by the creek Never much for talkin', but his eyes could speak [Verse 2] My daddy, he’s a good man, works hard, and he prays But he saw Jacob comin', through a haze of his own ways Said, "That boy ain't no good, girl, mark my words and see" But daddy never saw the boy, that Jacob was to me [Chorus] He's got a rusty old Chevy, and a heart of pure gold And a way of lookin' at me, makes me feel brave and bold Daddy don't like him, says he's bound for a fall But Jacob's the only one, who answers when I call [Verse 3] We’d sneak out after dark, when the moon was a sliver thin Meet by the old oak tree, where our love could begin He’d carve our names in the bark, with a pocket knife blade Swearin' we'd be together, no matter what parade [Verse 4] Daddy caught us once, down by the old fishing hole His face turned purple, he lost all control Said, "If I see you with him again, there'll be hell to pay" But a heart in love, daddy, ain't got no other way [Chorus] He's got a rusty old Chevy, and a heart of pure gold And a way of lookin' at me, makes me feel brave and bold Daddy don't like him, says he's bound for a fall But Jacob's the only one, who answers when I call
