[Intro — Soft Piano, Atmospheric Guitar] In the middle of the night, a desperate voice cries out, A friend at the door, with a need he can't live without. Three loaves of bread, for a guest who's come to stay, And a lesson from the Savior that still speaks to us today. [Verse 1] Midnight falls, and the door is closed, The house is quiet, everybody's home. But someone's come, and there's nothing to share, So he runs to his neighbor, hoping he'll care. Friend lend me bread, I've got nothing to give, I've got a hungry soul, depending on me to live. From behind the door came a tired reply, Don't trouble me now, go home my guy! But the knocking continued, the asking didn't cease, A desperate man's need won't let him find peace. Then finally, the door opens wide, Three loaves are given to the man outside. [Pre-Chorus] But the lesson isn't that God must be pressed, Or that we must convince Him to give us His best. For the Father in heaven is faithful and true, And He knows every need before it comes into view. [Chorus] Ask, and ask. Seek Him through the night! Knock on the door, Trust His will and might! For the Father hears, His goodness has no end. Ask, seek, knock, in Him you can always depend! [Verse 2] Will a father give his child a stone, when they're asking for bread? If the child asks for a fish, will he hand him a snake instead? No father would ever do this, to the child that he loves! How much more does God love us? Giving good gifts from above. Though earthly hearts are broken and flawed, There's perfect goodness in the heart of God. He knows what is good, He knows what we need, He calls us to trust Him, and to follow His lead. Not every answer comes the way we planned, Not every mountain moves at our command. But even in silence, when we cannot see, We can rest in the goodness, of God who hears our plea. [Chorus] Ask, and ask. Seek Him through the night! Knock on the door, Trust His will and might! For the Father hears, His goodness has no end. Ask, seek, knock, in Him you can always depend! [Bridge — Building Drums, Powerful Vocals] When the night is long, keep praying! When the road is hard, keep seeking! When the door seems closed, keep knocking! He is not a man who lies, He will never turn away. Our Father gives what's always good, and the Spirit guides us each day! Not by force, and not by pride, But with humble hearts, we come inside. Father, teach us to trust Your plan, And to rest within Your righteous hands! [Breakdown — Quiet Piano, Spoken Word] Ask... Not because He doesn't know. Seek... Not because He won't show. Knock... Not because He's unwilling to go. But... Because He's our Father, and all to Him we owe! [Final Chorus — Full Band, Powerful Vocals] Ask, and ask. Seek Him through the night! Knock on the door, He is faithful and right! For the Father hears His children, and His goodness has no end. Ask, seek, knock, in Him you can always depend! [Outro — Piano and Gentle Guitar] When midnight comes and shadows fall, Our heavenly Father hears our call. We trust His wisdom, we trust His love, And seek His greatest from above. The door may not open when we say, The answer may come another way. But we'll keep praying, come what may, And trust our Father every day. Ask, seek, knock... He is good. He hears His children. And His love will never end.
