Okay… This is probably gonna be a bit embarrassing. But… You know me. So here goes. Nine months ago, I sent you a comment… “Bring me back a T-shirt.” Can you remember? Probably the best stupid decision I've ever made. Nine months ago I reached out, Didn't know what I would find, Didn't know you'd end up living In the front of my mind. Then Manchester came around, And there you were with me, A couple days together And weirdly… it felt easy. We had a pizza one night, Then a kebab the next, We talked, we laughed, And yeah… we did the rest. (You know exactly what I mean) We stayed up talking, laughing, And getting a little carried away, Let's just say there were some moments We probably wouldn't tell Mum about today. 'Cause we just got on, Like we'd done it all before, And somehow being next to you Didn't feel new anymore. You weren't just someone I liked, You weren't just someone I knew, You were somehow my other half, And I hadn't even planned on you. Which is mildly inconvenient, 'Cause now I'm stuck with you… But honestly, I'm not complaining. Not even a little bit. 'Cause you're perfect for me, Even when I drive you mad, I'm probably the most annoying thing You never knew you had. I'm the one who talks too much, The one who won't let things be, And you still look at me Like I'm exactly who you need. I don't know how it happened, I don't know what I did right, But if this is what forever feels like, Then I'm holding on tight. Yeah, you're perfect for me, And now I know it's true… I wasn't looking for my other half. Then I found you. And I wanna grow old with you. Then Blackpool came around, And we had four days together, Walking down the seafront, Talking about absolutely everything And nothing whatsoever. We laughed until we couldn't, Probably annoyed half the town, And every time I looked at you I couldn't wipe that stupid smile down. And yeah, there were other moments, The kind we won't put in this song, The kind where four days somehow Didn't feel nearly long enough. Let's just say we found some ways To keep ourselves entertained, And if I told the whole story, You'd probably tell me to behave. Four days shouldn't be enough To make somebody feel like home, But somehow when I left you, I hated being on my own. And now you're meeting my mum, Which is slightly terrifying, 'Cause apparently this is serious now… There's no escaping. In a couple months I'll be moving, So I can finally be with you, And honestly, I can't wait To wake up and annoy you too. 'Cause when I think about forever, There's only one thing I wanna do… I wanna grow old with you. And I know it's only been nine months, Which sounds completely insane, But I've never met somebody Who could fit into my life this way. You understand the stupid parts, You understand the serious too, You somehow see right through me, And I feel safe being me with you. I don't have some clever explanation, I can't make it sound profound… I just know that when I'm with you, I feel like I've finally found The person I've been missing. My best friend. My safe place. My pain in the arse. My other half. Yeah… You. And if you asked me where I see us, There's only one answer I can give… I wanna grow old with you. You're perfect for me, And I hope you always know, I'd choose you in Manchester, Blackpool, anywhere we go. Give me four days by the seafront, Give me pizza, give me kebab, Give me all the ordinary stuff, 'Cause with you, it's never ordinary. And when we look back years from now, I hope we laugh about today, About how nine months somehow turned Into forever in every way. 'Cause one day you're gonna be my wife, And I'll probably still be saying, “How the hell did I get this lucky?” And you'll probably roll your eyes And tell me I'm embarrassing again. And I'll say… “Yeah, but you're still here.” And that's exactly where I wanna be. Growing old with you. Nine months… Two cities… A pizza. A kebab. Four days in Blackpool. And one stupid little T-shirt comment that somehow changed everything. My other half. Fuck me… I really did get lucky. I wanna grow old with you. I love you.
