The Book of Hayihanmeht
[NARRATOR — SPOKEN VOICE ONLY] [DO NOT SING] Today we come to The Book of Hayihnmeht, a remarkable story about peace, fear, leadership, and repentance. Hayihnmeht was the son of Pah Nahtahn. At only seventeen years old, he accepted the responsibility of keeping the sacred record. He explained that his family wrote not simply to preserve history, but to record what the Haymehnay impressed upon their hearts for generations yet to come. Hayihnmeht inherited a people who had known peace for generations. Their society rested upon the Four Pillars: Knowledge. Sacrifice. Virtue. Consecration. Then Hayihnmeht saw danger approaching. War and destruction were spreading northward from the Waynahstitspah. And he was right. The danger was real. But fear entered the hearts of the people. Cities were fortified. Earthworks were built. Armies were organized. Resources once held in consecration were redirected toward defense. The Nemenhah were trying to preserve their way of life. But slowly, they began changing the very way of life they were trying to protect. That may be the greatest warning in Hayihnmeht's record. Fear can cause good people with good intentions to abandon the principles that once gave them peace. But Hayihnmeht's story does not end there. As an older man, he recognized what had happened. He repented. He relinquished his position and traveled among the people, pleading with them to disband their armies, tear down their battlements, and return to the Way of the Peacemaker. Many listened. And peace began returning. Later, Mohrhohnahyah warned future readers not to judge Hayihnmeht too harshly. The danger he foresaw had been real. His mistake was allowing fear to influence how he responded to it. That makes Hayihnmeht's story deeply human. We may recognize danger correctly and still respond incorrectly. But when we discover we have taken the wrong road, the Peacemaker gives us a way back. Repent. Return. Trust Him again. Walls cannot give us the peace of Christ. Armies cannot give us the peace of Christ. Fear cannot give us the peace of Christ. His peace comes when we place our trust in Him. So when fear enters our hearts... Cry unto Him in all things. [MUSIC GENTLY BUILDS] [BEGIN SINGING — VERY SHORT] When fear comes... Lord, be near... Turn our hearts... Back to Thee... Walk Thy Way... Trust Thy peace... Peacemaker... Never leave. [END]
