White noise
A crackle in the air, Like a signal through the glare, I trace your call inside the static, A pulse that fades, erratic. No one else can hear this play, But I can feel you drift my way. Between the hush and distant sound, A trace of you still hangs around. And I sense your breath Across the waves, A fragile signal That never stays. You slip right through, Yet still I try, Drifting deep Inside your lullaby. Each night I scan the empty band, Hoping that you’ll take my hand, On some forgotten frequency Where time dissolves inside of me. Am I caught or just obsessed, By a voice I can’t suppress? You fade beyond the fragile air, But still I reach, you’re almost there. And I sense your breath Across the waves, A fragile signal That never stays. You slip right through, Yet still I try, Drifting deep Inside your lullaby. “Hello? Are you there?”
