Pay the Check and Take Me Home (2026 re-write)

[verse 1] We’ve got our good and valid reasons For sometimes bein’ on the road Now that you’re back and we are meetin’ It heals an ache deep in my soul [pre-chorus] I was checkin’ your flight status Waitin’ for you to get home So we could spend some time together But now I see you and feel close [chorus] I don’t care about your next trip ‘Cause now you’re here and we’re alone This glass of wine has got one last sip Pay the check and take me home [verse 2] Absence makes the heart grow fonder And our reunions taste so sweet Survived those lonely nights without you Knowin’ you’d come back to me [chorus] I don’t care about your next trip ‘Cause now you’re here and we’re alone This glass of wine has got one last sip Pay the check and take me home [bridge] Take me home Ta-ay-ay-ay-ke me home Come on now, take me home I need to go there It’s been so long [chorus] I don’t care about your next trip ‘Cause now you’re here and we’re alone This glass of wine has got one last sip Pay the check and take me home [outro] Pay the check and take me home Just pay the check and take me home
