Day Shift Nightmare (Cover)

Daytime grin with a candy-cane twitch Sunburst face doing cartwheels in the glitch Crayon rules on the wall in red Clean that mess or you lose your head Sundrop spin with the jazz-hand curse Cartoon smile but the eyes get worse Tippy-toe tap on a plastic mat One wrong move, now he knows where you’re at Jingle-jangle from the ceiling tile Too much joy in a crooked smile “Clean up, clean up,” sharp as glass Then he moonwalks by with a broken laugh Hands too fast, rules too bright Play nice now in the fluorescent light All fun-fun till the bulbs go black Then the whole room coughs and the walls clap back You feel that flip? You feel that freeze? One laugh bends And the dark says please Sundrop, Moondrop Flip the whole room Sundrop, Moondrop Nightfall boom Sundrop, Moondrop Baby, which one now? (which one now?) Sundrop, Moondrop Better move somehow Moon slide down like a bad magic trick Same sweet face but the paint look sick Star-chain swing with a cracked lullaby He don’t blink once, he just crab-walk by Nap time missed, now the air got teeth Sock-foot creep with a circus grief Shadow in the vent doing knock-knock jokes Everybody hide when the moon man pokes One, two, three, now the puppet strings snap Jay-Dogg got the skillz, coming up in this rap Blue lights die and the red eyes bloom Like a birthday clown in a panic room He fold through cracks like a rubber-bone ghost Too much smile when you need it least most Crawlspace hymn with a broken toy choir Sun had glitter, moon got wire Hear that scrape? Hear that tone? One more blink And you’re on your own Sundrop, Moondrop Flip the whole room Sundrop, Moondrop Nightfall boom Sundrop, Moondrop Baby, which one now? (which one now?) Sundrop, Moondrop Better move somehow Tick-tock, click-clack, lights go splat Big bright smile in a party hat Tiptoe, flip-flop, crawl on the wall He too tall, then he too small Sun says “fun,” moon says “run” Both of them laughing like the joke ain’t done Playroom prince with the bedtime debt Every little rule got a little regret One face, two fates Same grin, split straight I saw the sun crack Then the moon took place Sticker-star crown and a loose little spring Bad dream dancing on a playground swing If the clock turns black, don’t trust that laugh It’s a jack-in-the-box with a crooked path SUNDROP, MOONDROP Flip the whole room SUNDROP, MOONDROP Nightfall boom Sundrop, Moondrop Baby, which one now? (which one now?) Sundrop, Moondrop Better move somehow SUNDROP, MOONDROP Spin till it snaps SUNDROP, MOONDROP No more naps Sundrop, Moondrop Baby, which one now? (which one now?) Sundrop, Moondrop Better move somehow Lights up, too sweet Lights out, too near Same bright face Two kinds of fear Sun grin, moon crawl Toybox crack Don’t look now He’s right out back
