I woke up this morning at quarter to noon, Had a serious meeting with my pillow balloon. The alarm said “Get up!” but I said “Not today, I’m busy doing nothing in a professional way.” My socks are mismatched, my hair’s doing art, I’ve mastered the science of staying apart. Why chase after trouble? Why run in a race? When the couch has a perfectly comfortable place. Oh, I’m lazy and proud, let the world hurry by, I’ll wave from my blanket as the minutes fly. I’m a champion lounger, a nap-time machine, The most relaxed person you’ve ever seen. I don’t need a trophy, I don’t need a throne, I’ve got snacks and a chair that I call my own. Being lazy is easy, it’s clearly the key To doing absolutely nothing spectacularly. I made a to-do list, it looked pretty neat, Then I took a small break and fell asleep. I planned to clean up, I planned to be brave, But my laundry pile looked like it wanted a cave. My phone needs charging, my plants need some care, But moving three feet feels like climbing a stair. I’ll do it tomorrow, that’s always my phrase Tomorrow’s been waiting for several decades. Oh, I’m lazy and proud, let the world hurry by, I’ll wave from my hammock and watch clouds in the sky. I’m a master of resting, a hero of chill, I’ve got maximum comfort and minimum will. Some people climb mountains, some people explore, Some people accomplish a thousand things more. But I have a talent that’s truly unique: I can relax for an entire week! So here’s to the lazy, the sleepy, the slow, The kings and the queens of the casual flow. We may not be racing, we may not be fast, But we’re having a wonderful time while it lasts. Raise up your pillows, give naps a cheer, The laziest season is finally here. If doing less is a wonderful art I’ve been a genius right from the start.
