Backroads & Jasmine

[Slide guitar intro with steel guitar, warm tube tone, light percussion] [Verse 1] Walking down these city streets Feel my soul pulling me To where the blacktop disappears Out in the country, just you and me [Pre-Chorus] Take me back to that willow tree That’s exactly where we need to be [Chorus] Backroads winding, turn by turn Through jasmine air and fields that burn Leading us where the dust don’t lie Unpaved, wild, just you and I [Verse 2] Hop in that old Chevy pickup Drive it past the city lights Just you and me for the weekend Engine humming through the night [Pre-Chorus] That old Chevy carries us home Steady as a heart of stone [Chorus] Backroads winding, turn by turn Through jasmine air and fields that burn Leading us where the dust don’t lie Unpaved, wild, just you and I [Verse 3] Feel the air change mile by mile No more noise, no city wild Our signal tunes to something real Rolling hills, magnolia fields [Pre-Chorus] Heaven’s painted countryside Breathe it in, let it ride [Chorus] Backroads winding, turn by turn Through jasmine air and fields that burn Leading us where the dust don’t lie Unpaved, wild, just you and I [Verse 4] These old roads feel like home again Front porch lights and childhood friends Mama calling from the door Beans on the stove like before [Pre-Chorus] Hear her voice through the breeze Carrying memories [Chorus] Backroads winding, turn by turn Through jasmine air and fields that burn Leading us where the dust don’t lie Unpaved, wild, just you and I [Final Verse / Outro] Weekend fades, we head back in City lights and noise again But country love don’t ever leave It’s in my bones, it’s in my dreams Dirt roads, gasoline in the air I’ll be back, I swear, I swear
