Blue Lounge Leopard
[Intro] In the lounge where the shadows lean, He sleeps in blue rosettes with a glittery sheen. One eye opens, he stretches and yawns, Shadow decides itβs time to patrol the lawns. [Verse 1] Then comes the harness, clip and buckle, Fieldwork calls from beyond the front door. One last stretch with official claws, Then out he steps into local law. Detective Inspector, full name sworn, Whispered Shadows of ΓorbjΓΆrn. Tail set high as he checks the gate, Ready to audit the whole estate. [Chorus] Walking the Blue Lounge Leopard, Metallic glitter trouble on a lead. Big-cat rumours on the pavement, Small-cat paws among the weeds. Is that a cheetah, a leopard, or just a cat? The local reports remain unclear. Detective Inspector, title clear: Whispered Shadows of ΓorbjΓΆrn patrols here. [Verse 2] He slips round the block with a classified stare, Rosetted coat and tactical air. Gulls shout down from the ridge-tile line, He gives them a look, keeps them on the roofline. Herring gulls heckle, land gulls complain, Far from the sea but loud all the same. Feathered watchers keep guard from afar, Like bad-tempered bouncers outside a bar. [Verse 3] Heβs got a fan club on the street, Some admire his blue rosetted coat. Some do a double take, βOh! It's a cat on a lead,β While Shadow studies a dandelion with a foraging bumblebee. One little lad points quickly and cries aloud, βMum, thereβs that lady walking her cheetah!β Shadow glances up, just faintly bemused... "I'm a Blue Lounge Leopard on an outside mission." [Verse 4] Down the road, his black-and-white friend Gets the face-sniff greeting, calm and neat. They flop down close, roll over once, Then Shadow gets bored and wants new streets. Mostly he listens, walks where I say, Till his own investigation pulls another way. I say βnot that route,β he answers low, A grumble that means, βbut I need to know.β [Verse 5] Scooters moving? Fine, heβll watch them. Pushchairs, bikes, he lets them glide. Mobility chairs with people riding? He sits and lets them pass beside. But parked-up wheels are different business, Empty frames with nobody there. He stops, growls low, gives a small warning hiss, Then grumbles while giving the thing a very wide miss. [Bridge] Two pigeons flutter in the tree overhead, Too distracted by love to consider dread. Shadow calculates, eyes full of schemes: βIf I can climb there... delicious double pigeon score.β But all he gets is a stray feather. Shadow crouches, dried grass covering his back, Convinced heβs invisible. The magpies and crows disagree. Corvids cackle laughter from the boundary line, He logs every insult as a serious crime, With one tail flick. [Verse 6] Back by the garden, patrol nearly done, Fifteen more minutes before going in. Black-and-white Luna, the good-boy fee, Paid to the agent for security. Old ginger gives him veteran eyes, Too dignified for games today. Shadow looks miffed, respects the rank, Then lets the old fellow go on his way [Verse 7] I comb the adventure out of his fur, Field notes lifted from shoulder and chin. Then inside, with the grass all gone, Indi waits to inspect where heβs been. He gives her the briefing, then heads for his bowl, Patrol makes demands on a serious soul. Belly full, whiskers and paws cleaned with care, Soon heβll be off to sleep upon his canvas lookout lair. [Final Chorus] Walking the Blue Lounge Leopard, Metallic glitter trouble on a lead. Big-cat rumours on the pavement, Small-cat paws among the weeds. Is that a cheetah, a leopard, or just a cat? The local reports remain unclear. Detective Inspector, title clear: Whispered Shadows of ΓorbjΓΆrn patrols here. [Outro] Harness hung up, fieldwork done, The last patrol of the route is run. Detective Inspector, Blue Field Leopard, Signs off and returns to just... Blue... Lounge Cat.
