The Judgment of the False Gods

V6

[Introduction narrative] In Egypt, Moses appeared time and again before Pharaoh to deliver the divine word: "Let my people go." But faced with the obstinacy and pride of the sovereign who refused to free the Israelites, Jehovah displayed His power. He inflicted ten successive plagues upon the Egyptian nation, confounding their deities one by one, until He broke every chain and led His people toward freedom. (Verse 1) The mighty river carries waters turned to blood, Hapi, god of the Nile, beholds his empty flood. The revered fish perish within the stagnant slime, The sacred sustenance lost to the hand of time. Judgment falls heavily upon the pharaohs' land, To reveal the Name above every nation's hand. (Chorus) Jehovah has spoken, the heavens are revealed, The idols of Egypt fall low on the field. Nor flesh, nor the earth, nor the arts in their song, Could ever withstand the Almighty and strong! (Verse 2) Héqet the frog, symbol of renewal's grace, Invades every threshold and mocks every place. The invoked goddess can no longer hold at bay The march from the marshes that darkens the day. Their faith in fertility crumbles in one day, An illusory promise that fades fast away. (Chorus) Jehovah has spoken, the heavens are revealed, The idols of Egypt fall low on the field. Nor flesh, nor the earth, nor the arts in their song, Could ever withstand the Almighty and strong! (Verse 3) When dust turns to gnats right before our amazed eyes, The baffled magicians look up to the skies. Thot, master of secrets and occult domain, Stands silent and beaten against this true reign. The priests cry aloud, bending low to the floor: "This is the finger of God, ruling evermore!" (Chorus) Jehovah has spoken, the heavens are revealed, The idols of Egypt fall low on the field. Nor flesh, nor the earth, nor the arts in their song, Could ever withstand the Almighty and strong! (Outro) The breath of truth scatters all magic away, Egypt bows down as the judgment holds sway. Ten plagues broke the shackles of harsh oppression, And the liberated people march toward salvation. Jehovah is Sovereign, Yesterday, today, and tomorrow again.
