Everywhere I Long to Be
I sit out on the porch, watching the sun go down, Close my eyes and drift, block out every sound. As the light fades here, I slip into the streams, Like the ancients did, chasing hidden dreams. A forgotten art, long forgotten flame, I leave my body, but I keep my name. What are you doing, halfway ‘round the world? Do you feel me moving, as the night unfolds? I’m astral projecting, My soul reconnecting. Floating through the endless skies, With the universe reflecting. I’m astral projecting, Every wall rejecting. Eyes still closed but I can see, Everywhere I long to be. I open up my eyes to a land I’ve never seen, Sunrise pouring down under foreign dreams. Walking through the streets, Italy’s awake, Coffee in the air by the riverside cafés. From a studio window where the Eiffel stands tall, To pet a cat in Rome by the Colosseum walls. Time stops, if only for a minute, To see in my mind what I’ll never be in it. To see in my mind what I may never see in body, But my spirit flies, timeless, free, and godly. Hear Big Ben chime, echo into time, On Whitehaven Beach, the stars realign. I’m astral projecting, My soul reconnecting. Floating through the endless skies, With the universe reflecting. I’m astral projecting, Every wall rejecting. Eyes still closed but I can see, Everywhere I long to be. Porch light fades, but I’m already gone, Traveling the world till the break of dawn. A forgotten art, but it feels so true, Every place I go still leads me back to you.
