Verse 1 Lo, I beheld through the breaking of heaven, The white fire split the darkened dome; Earth reeled, and the mountains staggered, The seas lifted up their roaring foam. The sun turned sable, the moon bled crimson, The stars fell forth like withered leaves; And midst the tumult, the angel rose, Bearing the key of the everlasting Gospel. Chorus Fear God, and give glory to Him, For the hour of His judgment is come; Worship Him who made heaven and earth, And the sea, and the fountains of waters! Verse 2 Through the rent of the firmament thundered his voice, Clear as the trump on the morning’s height: “Behold the Maker, the Ancient of Days, Who bound the deep and kindled light. Bow ye down, O kingdoms of clay, For the hour is at hand, the reckoning near; Lift holy hands to the throne of the Lamb, Let the name of the Highest be hallowed here!” Chorus Fear God, and give glory to Him, For the hour of His judgment is come; Worship Him who made heaven and earth, And the sea, and the fountains of waters! Verse 3 Then from the midst came the dread foretelling, The curse upon them who bear the Beast; Who drink the wine of wrath unmingled, The cup of the Almighty’s feast. Day and night the smoke shall gather, The torment rise in ceaseless flame; No rest for the hand or the heart that bows To the mark of the Lie or the Beast’s foul name. Chorus Fear God, and give glory to Him, For the hour of His judgment is come; Worship Him who made heaven and earth, And the sea, and the fountains of waters! Verse 4 Yet blessed are they who keep His command, Whose robes are washed in the blood of the Lamb; Through the furnace they stand unbroken, Through the shadows they see afar. From the toil of the field they are gathered home, Their labor wrought in the Master’s sight; And their works shall follow, bright as crowns, Through the gates of pearl into endless light. Chorus Fear God, and give glory to Him, For the hour of His judgment is come; Worship Him who made heaven and earth, And the sea, and the fountains of waters!
