Alarm went off I negotiated five more minutes Somehow ended up researching why pigeons tilt their heads Coffee got cold while I was lining up the mugs Had to put the mugs back because the handles didn't match Pocket check... Phone wallet keys... Phone wallet... Wait... Where's the keys Found 'em in my hand That tracks Started cleaning one shelf Now the whole room looks like an archaeological dig Every pile got a purpose Don't touch it I'll forget the map Brain threw out twelve ideas Every single one sounded life changing By lunch I was teaching myself something Can't remember what Probably important Funny thing is I remember the wallpaper from my third grade classroom Couldn't tell you why I walked into this hallway Guess it wasn't that serious One side keeps opening tabs The other keeps reading all of them Nobody's driving We're just taking turns reaching for the wheel Whole grocery list disappeared Soon as I crossed the front door Walked out with batteries A notebook Two pens Didn't need either pen Still felt right People call it overthinking Nah... It's just every thought waiting politely in the same doorway Nobody wants to cut in line Sometimes my head sounds like Six podcasts A shopping cart with one loud wheel A documentary about octopuses And somebody asking what we're having for dinner Best part... It usually works out Might take the scenic route Might stop and admire a cloud Might learn three useless facts before breakfast But every once in a while All the gears catch at the same time And that's when the fun starts.
