Walking Machine

You ever feel like everybody knows your number But nobody knows your pain? But They call I answer And They cry I carry. They clearly break I fix. I became walking machine Oh man, Phone rings, another fire, guess it’s my problem again Everybody drowning while I’m teaching them to swim Got duct tape for the broken, got stitches for the cracks Putting people’s worlds together while mine fades to black I’m the unpaid therapist, the keeper of the tears Listening to their nightmares I’ve been carrying for years They unload the weight then they walk away free Never asking who’s been carrying the weight of me I’m the shoulder they collapse on The ladder when they can’t climb The flashlight in the darkness While I’m running out of batteries inside Smile on my face Storm in my chest Everybody gets my best While I survive on what’s left Funny how silence Can scream louder than words The louder I help The less that I’m heard I became the walking machine Built to carry every burden Fixing everybody else’s broken Like my own ain’t hurting I’m the voice holder Problem solver Pain absorber Hope revolver Everybody knows my number Till I’m the one who falls Then suddenly the room gets quiet And nobody calls. No hope to hear “are you alright” Not the “do you need anything” Just silence on the other line I already know there’s that next whine I’ve memorized everybody’s battles Everybody’s fears Everybody’s birthdays Everybody’s tears But tell me one person Who memorized mine? Who noticed my smile Was really a warning sign? I’m suffocating underneath problems that ain’t mine Breathing everybody else’s smoke while choking on my life I became the landfill for emotions they won’t face Now I’m searching for myself And I can’t find the place They say, “You’re so strong.” “You’re amazing” The “I don’t know what I’ll do without you” No I’m just the one that never had permission to break Strong people cry too Strong people bleed Strong people secretly wonder Who they’re supposed to need Silence Speaks volumes Empty messages Unread hearts Missed calls Fake love You can hear abandonment Without a single word I’m the walking machine Engine made of empathy Everybody plugs into me Nobody charges me I carry every secret Every scar Every prayer Every war But who’s carrying me? When this machine finally stops Will anybody even notice? Or will they just search For another machine To replace me? I’m tired of being everybody’s emergency While becoming nobody’s priority The world calls me strong But strength without support Is just another word For surviving alone. BlackBandit
