Death Bed by XIXXIXXIX A whisper song for your final breath. --- [Intro – Whispered, dry] You are dying. But not alone… --- [Verse I – Slow, tight, cold] The air is overly humid. Thick. Stale. Too still for a hospital room. Machines hum beside you— long, slow beeps. You can feel the weight of the wires on your skin… but not much else. Your limbs are heavy. Cold. Distant. --- [Verse II – Hollow, breathy delivery] You can speak—barely. A cracked whisper at best. No one answers anymore. No nurses. No family. Just shadows. --- [Pre-Chorus – Uneasy rhythm, rising breath] They are here now. You see them by the wall— just shapes. Warped shadows where there should be none. They do not touch anything. They do not make a sound. They drift—not walk—drift— across the room, like they are lost. Or circling. --- [Chorus – Broken rhythm, whisper layered] You whisper hoarsely, “Who is there?” They stop. One turns. Not with a face— just a shift in its outline. A suggestion of attention. You can feel it… watching you. Nothing answers. No voice. No movement. But the room feels smaller now. As if it’s leaning in. [Raspy Whisper]“I know you are there…” you croak. --- [Bridge – Pained, drawn-out] Still no reply. But now— there is a shadow at the foot of your bed. It was not there before. You did not see it move. The light flickers. Your monitor skips a beat. --- [Final Lines – Slowing heartbeat] You try to call for help— louder this time— but your throat burns, and all that escapes is a dry cough and a rasp: “Help…” No one comes. Except them. And they are closer now. You inhale... for the last time.
