Hear my cry, O Lord of right, I speak with lips both pure and tight. Let my cause come forth from You, Eyes that see what's just and true. You searched my heart in silent night, Tested thoughts beyond my sight— You found no words that run astray, No feet that slip from wisdom’s way. I’ve kept from paths of violent men, By words You spoke, I walk again. My steps have held to firm-set ground, No falter, tremble, slip, or sound. I call on You—for You will hear, Incline Your ear and bring me near. Show Your love, so firm, so vast, You save the ones who hold You fast. Keep me as the apple bright Of Your eye in darkest night. Hide me in Your shadowed wings From deadly threats and lion kings. Their hearts are hard, their mouths are proud, They hunt me down, they close around. Like lions crouched to spring and tear, They watch with cold and ruthless stare. Rise, O Lord! Confront, cast down! Deliver me from tyrants crowned. By Your hand, redeem my breath From men who feed on dust and death. Their portion lies in fleeting things, Their bellies full from earthly kings. But I shall see Your face arise, And wake fulfilled, with heaven’s eyes.
