Title: The Ultimate Coach Genre: Gospel/Rap Verse 1 (Your son’s original lyrics) There are times when we fall/ into a deep dark pit/ times we feel like we want/ to curl up and quit/ then we hear a voice/ telling us to proceed/ If we follow his commandments/ He’ll give us what we need/ sometimes it’s hard to feel blessed/ when we look at our lives/ and see that it’s a mess/ serpent in our ear/ telling us to stress/ the ongoing war/ between the spirit and the flesh/ To walk the straight and narrow/ we must make it our mission/ to stand strong against/ temporal chemical addictions/ we doubt ourselves/ because of our afflictions/ we must be steadfast/ and move with conviction/ He gave us the blueprint/ and showed us his plan/ so we may have eternal life/ at his right hand/ if you’re playing on his team/ don’t be afraid to wear his jersey/ He’s the ultimate coach/ for when you feel unworthy/ Hook Stay in the game/ don’t let your faith lose hope/ Keep your eyes on Christ/ the Ultimate Coach/ He knows every weakness/ every prayer you approach/ Victory belongs to/ the Ultimate Coach/ Verse 2 (New) Every day’s a practice/ every test makes us grow/ He’ll teach us when to stand/ and when to let things go/ He’ll never call a play/ that leads His children wrong/ He gives us strength to finish/ when we don’t feel strong/ Sometimes we strike out/ sometimes we lose a round/ But He keeps speaking life/ when the world’s tearing us down/ The crowd may disappear/ when the pressure gets close/ But He’s beside His players/ the Ultimate Coach/ We cry unto Father/ not only when we stumble/ but to give you praise and glory/ for preparing us/ for this rumble/ if it’s not in your plans/ we won’t murmur or mumble/ For your Holiness/ can put us back together/ whenever we crumble/ Hook Stay in the game/ don’t let your faith lose hope/ Keep your eyes on Christ/ the Ultimate Coach/ He knows every weakness/ every prayer you approach/ Victory belongs to/ the Ultimate Coach/ Verse 3 (New) We thank you for the resolve/ as you wipe off our slate/ Reminded our blessings/ we know the Lord is great/ For evil makes evil/ all that is good/ God creates/ He’s always on time/ never a second too late/ So we’ll trust Your direction/ through every victory and loss/ Because every road to Heaven/ still leads us through the cross/ We’ll run with endurance/ never letting go/ Following the footsteps/ of the One who always knows/ The finish line is waiting/ for everyone who believes/ His promises are greater/ than anything we see/ We’ll lift our hands in worship/ giving glory to the King/ Following our Coach/ in everything/ Final Hook Stay in the game/ don’t let your faith lose hope/ Keep your eyes on Christ/ the Ultimate Coach/ From the first whistle blown/ to the final approach/ We’ll finish this race/ with the Ultimate Coach/ We’ll wear His name with honor/ wherever we go/ Forever on the team/ of the Ultimate Coach.
