What do you Mean by Christian?
We sat laughing at a corner table 43 years of marriage in our eyes Two hearts still intertwined No need for the world’s disguise Still walking covenant together After all the storms came through Every year a quiet rehearsal For a wedding promised true Told the waiter joking softly “Guess our years and we’ll tip twice” Watched him study how we spoke Like love itself had left him clues behind Then he knelt beside the table Almost careful when he asked “Are you two Christians?” And the whole room faded fast I said… That depends what you mean by Christian Do you mean religion? Do you mean a name? Do you mean the systems built by men? Or hearts surrendered in the flame? Cause labels can grow hollow And truth can disappear But the Shepherd still keeps calling For those with ears to hear We’ve watched churches turn to theater Watched the wounded drift away Watched people wear the language Without living what they say But somewhere underneath the noise The ancient path remains Not a contract built on culture But covenant through pain Maybe people aren’t running from Him… Maybe they’re running from what the system became That depends what you mean by Christian Because love should carry fruit And truth should walk in mercy Where the broken can find truth Truth has a name Yahusha Yahuah saves We’re still walking Still listening Still learning how to hear And somewhere beyond religion The Shepherd’s voice is clear
