Boots of Speed

[Intro] [Slide guitar solo - crying and bluesy] [Organ swell] [Drum fill] Yeah [Verse 1] Baby you're moving a little too slow for me You're dragging your anchor in the deep blue sea I tried to pull you up I tried to carry the weight But I think we are heading for a twist of fate You want to sit and talk about the way things are I want to jump in the carriage and chase the star The moss is growing on the soles of your shoes But I got a different kind of rhythm to choose [Chorus] I need some Boots of Speed To get out ahead of you I need a magical stride To do what I gotta do Click my heels together and burn the floor I ain't gonna see your face no more Love is a race and I'm taking the lead I need some Boots of Speed Yeah [Verse 2] I stopped at the merchant on the edge of town I laid my silver and my copper down He said "Woman these kicks will make you fly" I said "That's exactly what I need to get by" I don't need armor and I don't need a sword I just need to outrun the sound of your word The dust is rising in a cloud behind I'm leaving the trouble and the heartache blind [Bridge] [Music drops to a slow simmer] Running on air Running on light I'm gonna be gone Before the middle of the night You can try to catch me with a Haste spell But baby I know you and I know you well You're stuck in the mud And I'm in the wind [Chorus] I need some Boots of Speed To get out ahead of you I need a magical stride To do what I gotta do Click my heels together and burn the floor I ain't gonna see your face no more Love is a race and I'm taking the lead I need some Boots of Speed Yeah [Outro] [Slide guitar takes over] Run run run Watch me go Double time Double time I'm gone [Fade out with organ and guitar interplay] So fast So fast Bye bye
