Notch

Verse 1 Neither of us were searchin’ Just caught eyes across the room One night, passion runnin’ wild Just you and me, no room to move Pre-Chorus You said, “This is somethin’ more Not just a notch in the headboard” Chorus I wanna be your forever grain The way your bed remembers me Carve our names in that old oak Let time tell what we’re meant to be Verse 2 One date turned into two Late nights turnin’ into truth Didn’t take long, we both knew This thing was settin’ roots Pre-Chorus I said, “This is somethin’ more Not just a notch in the headboard” Chorus I wanna be your forever grain The way your bed remembers me Carve our names in that old oak Let time tell what we’re meant to be Bridge We know it’s right Ain’t just tonight Notches fade, but grain stays strong Something you trace Years down the line When the house is quiet And we’re still young at heart Pre-Chorus (Both) We say, “This is somethin’ more Not just a notch in the headboard” Final Chorus I wanna be your forever grain The way your bed remembers me Carve our names in that old oak Standin’ tall, just you and me
