He Willed Our Faith, Forevermore
Before the stars began to shine, Before the earth began to spin, A choice was made, a sovereign sign, A love poured out to erase our sin. God did not gaze into the years, To see our deeds, both dark and bright, And choose us then, amidst our tears, As if reactive to our plight. No, from eternity's tranquil shore, His purpose stood, a steadfast thing, He willed our faith, forevermore, And gave our souls the strength to sing. Not foresight drove His mighty hand, Nor did He bend to our decree, But by His grace, a chosen band, To set them free eternally. Paul prayed that we might understand, This truth so vast, so rich, so just, That God's own will, a guiding hand, Our souls would everlasting trust. Yes, from eternity's tranquil shore, His purpose stood, a steadfast thing, He willed our faith, forevermore, And gave our souls the strength to sing.
