I packed my dreams in a diaper bag Got two small bosses and a stroller tag One says “up,” one cries “feed me now” I’m the king of snacks with a sweaty brow Tickets? Nope Fast pass? Gone I’m on the couch since the break of dawn But when she laughs and the baby coos I swear this ride’s got the best reviews No spinning cups, no castle lights Just bottle warmers in the middle of the night But hold on tight, don’t lose your cheer The wildest park is already here We’re ridin’ the Jolly coaster Round and round in the living room Ridin’ the Jolly coaster With a burp cloth and a plastic spoon No theme park today No fireworks show Just a toddler yelling “Daddy, go!” We’re ridin’ the Jolly coaster And somehow, somehow, I love it so She’s got a ticket to the laundry pile Baby’s got milk with a sleepy smile I miss the parade and the churro stand But I got tiny fingers wrapped around my hand Roller coaster? Man, I wish But I’m dodging toys and a flying dish My back says quit, but my heart says stay This is the ride I’ll miss someday No marching band, no big balloon Just lullabies under the pale moon But hold on tight, the years go fast Even the longest days don’t last We’re ridin’ the Jolly coaster Round and round in the living room Ridin’ the Jolly coaster With a burp cloth and a plastic spoon No theme park today No fireworks show Just a toddler yelling “Daddy, go!” We’re ridin’ the Jolly coaster And somehow, somehow, I love it so Someday we’ll go where the bright lights shine Cotton candy hands and the carousel line I’ll buy three balloons and probably lose two But I’ll still be laughing next to you Till then we’ve got this hallway parade Pillow forts and lemonade Tiny feet with a stomping sound Best little circus in the whole darn town We’re ridin’ the Jolly coaster Round and round, here we go again Ridin’ the Jolly coaster Half-asleep but I’m all in No theme park today But that’s okay The magic showed up anyway We’re ridin’ the Jolly coaster— And someday, someday, we’ll really go Round and round, don’t let go Tiny hands, big love show Ridin’ the Jolly coaster!
