Got stung out on the porch, dropped my glass of tea Hollered like a fool, some bee had it out for me My wife came runnin', said "honey, you okay?" And that word "honey" took me back to a summer day When I was a boy my dad said "let's have that talk" so we took a walk I just know he struggled with words, talkin' about bees and birds It was dealin' with girls and those strange feelings in the works Now gettin' nervous around you is in the past But I just have to ask... What do birds and bees have to do with you and me I guess bees make honey and I love you, honey And those birds sing, and you make my heart sing Our life is sweet and together we feather the nest darlin' that's as "birds and bees" as it gets Well I never got the memo on how this thing works Just a red-faced dad and a shovel full of dirt He was diggin' up a fence post, tryin' to find the words Said "son, it's kinda like the bees and the birds" Now as I sit here with you, enjoyin' this breeze I know we got it better than those birds and those bees It's not like that lecture ever stopped a fight That's because it's not about stingers or taking flight No birds, no bees, no hives, no trees Just you and me, this porch, and this tea. So now it's clear you see... What birds and bees have to do with you and me You see bees make honey and I love you, honey And those birds sing, and you make my heart sing Our life is sweet and together we feather the nest darlin' that's as "birds and bees" as it gets Birds and bees… birds and bees Birds and bees… birds and bees You and me We got it better than those birds and bees.
