hanging over the canyon with one hand on a daisy and one foot on the edge halfway between bravery and cowardice and not one friend in the world to talk me off the ledge but I have never been less stressed ‘cause I don’t fear death I fear emptiness swimming in a hotel pool that used to be a lake and there’s a hot tub to the side the lights are flickering on and off again and there’s no one else inside and it’s so warm and it is so wet and it is not yet heaven but it’s close as I will get it’s almost what I wanted almost what I meant I keep standing on the edge pretending it’s content every single thing is bittersweet the waiting room is more comfortable than the office every party’s best when it’s yet to peak I rest better in almosts than in endings it’s almost, and that’s enough the canyon hums below I keep waiting for the fall but the water never flows almost, almost -------------------------- cover of a track on my Imaginary Animals album available on spotify & elsewhere
