High in the sky where the soft winds play Lived a little bird in a nest of gray Every night it flew with grace Bringing stars to the people's hearts Twinkle, twinkle, one by one Falling stars for everyone Wishes whispered in the air The little bird was always there One night came a lonely sound A girl whose hope was not yet found "Please," she said, "just let me be Seen by someone, finally" [Chorus] Twinkle, twinkle, one by one Falling stars for everyone But for her, the bird took flight With the biggest star that night The star was heavy, the sky was deep The bird fell down, fell fast asleep And on her roof at break of day A shining wing just faded away Twinkle, twinkle, morning glow She smiled and said, "You didn’t go" The wish was heard, the light remained In feathered gold and windowpane Fly, little bird, through dreams above Carrying stars and silent love
