Verse 1) The alarm clock is blasting, it’s seven AM. I’m walking through crowds, avoiding the jam. The heavy glass entrance is open and wide. And the air conditioning hits me inside. The hallway is packed, the noise is so loud. I hear my name shouted from somewhere in the crowd. I spin right around, expecting his face. And there's my friend waving from across the hall space. (Pre-Chorus) My jaw starts to drop and my eyes scan the floor. Looking for his hoodie by the main office door. His sixteen cool friends are all standing in line. But hes with them, and my pulse skips a time. (Chorus) The first day of school is finally here. But the mystery went completely clear. I’m walking right into my advisory room. Trapped in a bubble of Joy and bloom. Seventh grade counts, or that’s what they say. I see him on the very first day. (Verse 2) I sit at my desk and I look at the clock. Listening to everyone chatter and talk. My friends say don't worry, he'll speak up real soon. Maybe by sixth period or this afternoon. I turn up my earbuds and let the bass drop. Playing "DtMF" so my overthinking will stop. (Bridge) He’s in my morning, he’s at my lunch. And I wave to his annoying but cool little bunch. Will tomorrow be different when the morning bell rings? Will Tuesday bring back all our campfire things? My knuckles are white, but I'm holding my ground. A seventh-grade story that has been found. He was right there when the garage doors unlocked. But I know that our timeline hasn't been blocked. (Outro) Zero days left. But the countdown just shifts. Staring at shadows and schedule rifts. Three days of camp. Two nights in the smoke. He’ll be here anyday. And that’s not a joke.
