Both light and shadow live inside, And through each choice, they are our guide. From warmth we felt to pain we knew, Our view of life took shape anew. The words we hear, the times we face, Events and choices leave their trace. The things we hide from everyone Still shape the people we become. The light and shadow that we hold Give shape to us as we unfold. Each trace that life has left inside Reshapes the world before our eyes. The shade gives rest when heat takes hold, And light can help us through the cold. Not every light will warm you through; Not every shadow frightens you. At times, our light comes into view; At others, shadow shows up, too. The things that happen day by day Reveal us in a different way. Both light and shadow live inside, And through each choice, they are our guide. From warmth we felt to pain we knew, Our view of life took shape anew. Not everything fits every day. Not all things touch us the same way. The very thing that shelters you Can be the thing that hurts you, too. How you see life shapes where you go. Each choice adds to the things you know. We’re shaped by all that comes our way, And how we carry it each day. Both light and shadow leave their trace, We each move at a different pace. Another’s path is theirs to tread; We have our own to walk instead. Both light and shadow live inside, And through each choice, they are our guide. From warmth we felt to pain we knew, Our view of life took shape anew. Without the shadows, all seems flat. With them, the world has depth and life. Each edge and distance grows more clear: What’s far away and what is near. If all you see in them is light, There’s more to them beyond your sight. To know a person as a whole, See light and shadow in their soul. Both light and shadow live inside, And through each choice, they are our guide. From warmth we felt to pain we knew, Our view of life took shape anew. Not all is clear in light alone; In shadow, deeper layers are shown. Those who see light and shadows, too, See more of us come into view. Both light and shadow live inside, And through each choice, they are our guide. From warmth we felt to pain we knew, Our view of life took shape anew.
