One small door was all that I opened I only asked why, that was all A mark on my skin, not the sin that they saw Marked to survive by a strange kind of law The flood took our names, but we counted the cost Outside the ark, we were never quite lost We are the other side of Eden The ones who asked, the ones who fell Every locked door, we still remember Still got a story left to tell We are the other side of Eden Together, we're the whole of the tale I looked back once, is that such a crime Salt on my cheeks, and salt for all time I stood where he should've stood, marked but unseen The blade never touched me, I bled in between Cast out twice, but I found my own spring Wilderness taught me the strength I could bring We are the other side of Eden The ones who asked, the ones who fell Every locked door, we still remember Still got a story left to tell We are the other side of Eden Together, we're the whole of the tale Stolen my name for a bowl and a lie He wore my skin just to steal what was mine A cloak in my hand was the only proof That they'd believe over any truth I hardened my heart till the sea closed the door Ten plagues couldn't teach me what the water swore We are the other side of Eden The ones who asked, the ones who fell Every locked door, we still remember Still got a story left to tell We are the other side of Eden Together, we're the whole of the tale I only asked why, and they called it disease Seven days outside, but I carried the keys One stone undid a thousand wars Now I'm just a name that outlived what it was for Hineni, hineni, kulanu kan El Roi Ish ha-benayim Shalom Here I am, here I am, and so is every other side We are the other side of Eden The ones who asked, the ones who fell Every locked door, we still remember Still got a story left to tell We are the other side of Eden We are the other side of Eden Together, we're the whole of the tale Together, we're the whole of the tale The other side of Eden That's where we belong One small door, still open For every silenced song
