Between the Quiet and the Tide
[Verse 1] I’m not the loudest in the room, but I can be when I feel like it, most of the time I’d rather sit with a moment than try to fill it. I let conversations breathe instead of forcing them somewhere they don’t need to go, and I’m still working out the line between speaking up and letting things just flow. People tend to like me, or at least enjoy my company for a while, and I’m glad of that, I really am, I like to leave people with a smile. I just don’t always show how much of myself I quietly give away, to keep things easy on the surface, to keep the peace in place. [Verse 2] I care more than I let on, if I’m honest about it, even when I sound certain there’s still room to doubt it. There’s a part of me that wants to speak and another that keeps the peace, trying to hold both sides together, hoping neither one will cease. I give my time, my energy, more of myself than I should, not because anyone asks me to, but because it feels like I could. I like to make people laugh, or at least lighten their day, even if they don’t always catch what I’m trying to say. [Verse 3] I’ve always had a soft spot for the hours just after midnight, when the world finally slows down and nothing’s asking me to get it right. There’s something honest in that stillness, like everything loosens its hold, like the noise of the day fades out and the quiet feels a little more bold. Give me a beach at low tide and I’ll walk further than I planned, moonlight stretching out across the water, reflected in wet sand. Waves rolling in gently, never trying to prove a thing, just doing what they’ve always done, like a quiet kind of offering. [Verse 4] Wales still lives in me more than I probably let show, sitting in the evening sand dunes watching the daylight go. The sun folding into calm water without needing to pretend, just a quiet understanding that even good things have an end. The sea barely moving, just breathing in and out, a dog at my side keeping pace without a doubt. And in those moments everything made sense without a sound, like the world didn’t need explaining, just being there was enough. [Bridge] But put me in a kitchen with something proper on the go, spices hitting the heat, music up, letting it all just flow. You’ll catch me dancing between stirring and taste, not thinking about anything, not caring about keeping pace. A party animal’s for life, not just Christmas, that’s true, it never really leaves, now it just gently moves on through. [Final Refrain] Somewhere between the quiet and the tide, not everything needs fixing, I can let things slide. I’ve learned to let things be, it’s not like I don’t care. Some things are good enough, just as they are. And maybe that’s where I make the most sense in the end, not chasing every answer, not needing to pretend, just standing in that space where everything aligns, between the calm, the rhythm, somewhere between the tides. [Spoken | Soft Fade] [Outro] [Minimal | Acoustic + Pad] [Spoken | Soft Fade] "If you were looking for me…" "you’d probably find me there." "Between the dunes and the fading light," "Between the rhythm and the calm…" "Where I don’t have to choose which part of me is real."
