Drift Beneath the Endless Tide is a vaporwave track that emerged from my desire to explore a new story within the dreamy, surreal aesthetic of the genre. This time, I wanted to take listeners to the Elemental Plane of Water, a place of infinite beauty and hidden dangers, as imagined in Dungeons & Dragons. The song tells the story of an adventurer who finds themselves trapped in this vast, glowing ocean. As they drift with the currents, they witness floating settlements, bioluminescent creatures, and the tranquil yet eerie beauty of the plane. But this serenity is shattered when they encounter a titanic battle between two ancient and monstrous beings: a Kraken and an Aboleth. In a moment of desperation, the adventurer is saved by an ancient Dragon Turtle, who carries them to safety. The song ends with the adventurer finding peace in their new existence, embracing the endless blue as their home. I wanted to capture the duality of the Elemental Plane of Water—its breathtaking beauty and lurking dangers—while exploring themes of survival, discovery, and finding peace in the unknown.
