[Verse] You became a mother And you became a father When a child is born and you have ideas about life. ... You look forward to it, even though you know it won't always be easy. You rely on what you know And you see friends with children around you. Memories of childhood, Games and love for your parents, school years, loves, troubles, friendships. And you remember your childhood firsts. First tastes, first games, first knowledge of everything new. The first laugh, seeing the first snow ... the first melting of chocolate, ... the first success, ... the first candy, ... the first, first feeling ... When everything was first. You're intrigued... [Chorus] Somehow you don't count on your world falling apart! And it broke! It broke so that it's falling apart and your heart is torn to pieces! Your heart is torn to pieces... A feeling you've never known! You have it for the first time and you think it's going to kill you. You know you can't do it. Reconciliation is a terrible thing. Your heart is bleeding! There's a spark of hope in the corner of your soul and Hope takes on a new dimension. I thought I was ready for anything. You can't prepare for this. ... That moment will break you. You've never felt more pain in your life. Words can't describe what you're going through. Nature has played a trick on you, and you think, "Why? [Verse 1] You go home with a little bundle of love and you have no idea what life has in store for you. Faith and hope is so powerful! So powerful! You feel infinite love, absolute pain, and seek eternal devotion within yourself. You can't turn your back, you don't want to. You can't run away! You're a parent. You're the only nice thing your little bundle of love has. With a high degree of disability and demands on your care, you will eventually discover that you are truly the only thing your child has. Years later, you will find that despite all the times you think you can't, you will find a thousand more times that you can! [Chorus] Life has taught you so much over the years. It may even have tortured you - to make you stronger so you can keep fighting and fighting. You've picked yourself up off the ground a million times! And often you felt like a Phoenix!!! ... From nothing... from the ashes... out of decay you rose! And you had to move on! Loving a healthy child is easy. But only [Verse 2] But only the greatest love will bend to a disabled child. You must have a lot of humanity in you. You have to, because you have no choice but to accept it! You appreciate anyone who has humanity in them. That's been a top priority for you these past few years. Your priorities are miles away from your friends' priorities. You're marginalized, unwanted. People loathe disability, don't understand it, and look upon it with pity or contempt. Sometimes they look through us to spare their feelings. Reconciling with society and the system is worse than reconciling with a handicap that has come and will never go away. Motherhood is the most beautiful , the deepest love and the greatest pain that never ends. Love comes with pain, you know that. You love with all your heart, and yet it's a struggle. A soldier in the trenches under fire, stressed, afraid, sleepless, fighting against the whole world. You fight for the rights your child has, but often forgets. My happiness lies in my unhappiness.....mmmm
