Brisket Gate-Invasion

[Verse 1] Saw it from the road A ribbon in the air Rode like it owed me Right into nowhere One smell said "go on" My boots said "too late" I followed that brisket Straight to the gate [Pre-Chorus] Hear them picks start grinnin' Smell that sugar in the fire My common sense was limp But my hunger climbed higher [Chorus] I found the smoke I found the fire Followed that fiddle And a bad desire Nobody called Nobody wrote But I saw that smoke And that's all she wrote I found the smoke I found the light Found fifty cousins And stayed all night If there's music and ribs I'm probably close They didn't invite me I found the smoke [Verse 2] Pulled in like a rumor With a grin and a cough Dog at the gate Acted like I was lost Auntie near the smoker Eyed me up and down Then she shoved me a plate And pointed me down [Pre-Chorus] Said "boy, take a chair now" Like she'd known me years That whole graveyard of doubts Just vanished right here [Chorus] I found the smoke I found the fire Followed that fiddle And a bad desire Nobody called Nobody wrote But I saw that smoke And that's all she wrote I found the smoke I found the light Found fifty cousins And stayed all night If there's music and ribs I'm probably close They didn't invite me I found the smoke [Bridge] Turns out grace wears gravy And mercy tastes like slaw Love comes on a paper plate With your name left off So I raised my sweet tea To the stranger I'd been Then the whole back porch Sang me in again [Final Chorus] I found the smoke I found the fire Followed that fiddle And a bad desire Nobody called Nobody wrote But I saw that smoke And that's all she wrote I found the smoke I found the light Found fifty cousins And stayed all night If there's music and ribs I'm probably close They didn't invite me I found the smoke [Outro] Pulled up a chair Passed me the beans Somebody said, "Batshit, Welcome to the family"
