[Intro — Narration, light guitar + claps] Narrator (smiling): Okay… this is a true story. About a four-year-old legend named Zane… And the socks… he never takes off. [Verse 1 — Sung] Zane’s got socks on Monday, socks on Tuesday, Socks on Wednesday like it’s all the same day! Big ol’ feet go thump-thump on the floor, He’s four years old but his feet say, “WE’RE FOURTY-FOUR!” He wears ’em in the kitchen, wears ’em in the hall, Wears ’em when he’s tiny… and when he’s feeling tall. Even at bedtime when the moonlight knocks— Zane snuggles in with his stinky socks! [Chorus — Sung, super catchy] Stinky socks! Stinky socks! Marchin’ ’round the house in his stinky socks! Pee-yew! Whoa! But he loves those rocks— Those cozy, dozy, stinky socks! Stinky socks! Stinky socks! Grace says, “Zane, please—put ’em in the box!” But he just grins and he does a little hop— ’Cause Zane’s the king of the stinky socks! [Verse 2 — Sung, with call-and-response] Grace is up top in the bunk bed tower, Zane’s down below with the sock-foot power. He tip-toe sneaks like a ninja raccoon— But the socks go “SQUEAK!” and they give it away—BOOM! He does a spin and a silly sock dance, Grace says, “Brother, you got no chance!” “New socks, please!” she calls and talks— But Zane goes, “NOPE! Same stinky socks!” [Pre-Chorus — Sung, build] Two days… three days… maybe more? Those socks have been places they shouldn’t explore! They’ve climbed up beds and raced toy cars— They’ve sailed the couch to the dinosaur stars! [Chorus — Sung] Stinky socks! [Bridge — Narration + musical “investigation”] Narrator (whispering like a detective): We have a situation. It’s bedtime. The socks… are still on. Grace (spoken): Zane… are those the same socks? Zane (spoken, proud): They’re my favorite socks. Narrator: Operation: Sock Swap is a go. Approach with bubbles… and… a fresh pair. [Bridge — Sung, playful] Bubble bath, bubble blast, Socks go “NOOO!” but we’re too fast! One sock down, one sock free— They fly like birds—WHEEEE! New socks on, fresh socks tight, Stinky socks say, “Goodnight!” [Final Chorus — Sung, bigger, lots of claps] Stinky socks! Stinky socks! Now they’re in the wash—bye stinky socks! Woo-hoo! Yay! Fresh-feet rocks— But Zane still dreams of his stinky socks! Stinky socks! Stinky socks! Grace laughs, “Okay… but not in the box!” Zane does a grin and a victory hop— ’Cause he’ll probably wear ’em… non-stop! [Outro — Narration, cute and cozy] Narrator: And that’s the tale of Zane and his feet… If you smell something funny… …it’s probably just love. And socks.
