New Year & Same Me
The year changed, nice one, people cheer Same streets, same thoughts, just a different year They say “be happy”, like it’s automatic But my head still runs on something problematic Smiles on the surface, cracks below Some things grow quiet, others grow cold I feel improvements, I won’t deny But some weight stayed, I don’t know why Time keeps moving, I hesitate Watching life through a different gate If I don’t move, I already know Nothing changes just ‘cause the numbers go New year, same me, yeah, you can say that Animations look bright, but reality hits back Last year didn’t smile, and that still remains If the year really changed, why we feel the same? New year, same me, yeah, you can say that Lights on the screen, but the truth hits hard Past stayed cold, and it won’t just fade If the year moves on, why we stay the same? My body changed, yeah, that’s clear Growth shows up when the years appear But mentally, I still debate If I evolved or just learned to wait Some dreams faded, not all at once Just less color every month I didn’t crash, I didn’t fall Just lost a bit of myself, that’s all It’s not dramatic, it’s not loud Just quieter days in the crowd Nothing’s broken, nothing’s new But something’s worse than it used to New year, same me, yeah, you can say that Animations look bright, but reality hits back Last year didn’t smile, and that still remains If the year really changed, why we feel the same? New year, same me, yeah, you can say that Lights on the screen, but the truth hits hard Past stayed cold, and it won’t just fade If the year moves on, why we stay the same? Maybe things don’t fall apart They just drift slowly in the dark And every year, I start to see The change I avoid is chasing me
