Asadov wrote his first poem at the age of eight. In 1941, a week after graduation, he volunteered to go to the front to fight the Nazi invaders. During the Great Patriotic War, he worked his way up from a mortar gunner to commander of a Katyusha Guards battery. In between battles, he wrote poetry and read it to his fellow soldiers. On the night of May 3-4, 1944, near Sevastopol, Asadov was seriously wounded in the head and lost his eyesight forever. Losing consciousness, he drove the ammunition truck to the battery. After twelve surgeries, the doctors finally announced that he would not see. In the hospital, between operations, he continued to write. After Chukovsky called him a "true poet," Asadov entered the Gorky Literary Institute and graduated in 1951 with honors. In the same year, the first collection "The Bright Road" was published and he was accepted into the Writers' Union. He wore a black half mask until the end of his life, and the upper part of his face was disfigured by a wound. Asadov's poems were never included in the school curriculum, and yet millions knew them by heart. The girls copied them into notebooks, and people sent him thousands of letters. He wrote about love, loyalty, betrayal, war and motherhood simply, directly, without literary frills. During his life, Eduard Asadov released about fifty collections. He died on April 21, 2004 in the Moscow region. ===================================================================== (Verse 1:) Don't waste your time with people who will never need you, who don't care, who will never want to stay. Those who will undoubtedly deceive you one day., And they turn their footsteps to pursue them in another way. (Verse 2:) Don't waste your tears on eyes that can't see you, To the hearts that will never feel your inner flame. Those who hurt you and then promise to atone for your guilt., But he comes back to hurt you anyway. (Chorus:) Don't waste your life, it's precious, it's not eternal, Appreciate every hour, every moment, every breath. In this imperfect world, there is someone who will do his best. To pray for you and love you until death. (Verse 3:) Don't waste your strength on those who only take it., On vanity, on pride, on empty ostentation. Those whose love is fake — don't let them destroy it., Those who are obsessed only with their own shadow. (Verse 4:) Don't waste your words on ears that never listen., For little things unworthy of your struggle. Those who breathe next to you and see nothing.,, Whose hearts remain cold, while yours burns brightly. (Chorus:) Don't waste your life, it's precious, it's not eternal, Appreciate every hour, every moment, every breath. In this imperfect world, there is someone who would strive I pray for you, and I love you to death. (Bridge (bridge)): Every tear, every pain, every fall that you've experienced forms a heart strong enough to stand alone. But somewhere out there, someone is waiting for you., Who sees your light and believes it to be true. (Chorus (finale)): Don't waste your life, it's precious, but not forever. Delay every hour, every moment, every breath. In this imperfect world, there is someone who would do their best. To pray for you and love you until death.
