(Intro: Mandolin and Sleigh Bells) (Verse 1) We carry in the cedar, a promise standing tall, Unpack the dusty boxes, remembering them all. Each fragile, painted ornament holds a date and name, Lighting up the memories, renewing the old flame... (Chorus) Oh, the Family Tree of Light, its branches reach up high, Bearing every memory beneath the winter sky. We stand beneath the shimmer, rooted strong and deep, The promise of our family that Christmas helps us keep... (Verse 2) We place the tiny figures that the children made with glue, A shining, brand-new bauble next to one that's worn and blue. We hoist the guiding star right up to where it ought to be, Reminding us of hope and all the love within our tree... (Bridge) The lights will soon come down and the green will fade to brown, But the warmth it brought remains throughout our weary town. For we carry in our spirit what the tree has shown us clear, That family love's the brightest light we hold all through the year... (Outro Tag, Sung, Slowing): The gift is the blessing.
