The Search
'The Search' Chorus (Well the rail I'm a riding is long and hard And there's no end in sight, These doors won't close on this ole boxcar And it's cold again tonight, But the moon is shining and the stars are lit On this road I've been given As the search goes on to try to find her I wonder where she could be hidden....) Well I always thought that it'd work out And things would be just great, I'd work real hard and stay on the job And she'd be there if I was late.... But my time ran out working late one night As I arrived home, I found a note on the dresser, And what it said chilled me to the bone.... It read, "I'm not sure of what I'm doing, but for now it feels right, I'm hoping now you'll understand I've got to have more out of life, I'm not sure which direction I'm headed But I'm getting out of this town, I know you'll come looking high and low, But I will not be found, Just understand it's not your fault, I hope you can see", Through tears I laid the note back down, as it ended, Love Me.... Well the next day I left in search for her I had to see her one more time, To tell her that I love her and if she'd come back Everything would be just fine.... I'd show a faded picture to a man on the street, but he had nothing to say, Just a nod and a grin and a poor outlook as he hurried along his way, It was the same old story that I kept getting, As I went from town to town, And again I'd hop a rail and try to get some sleep as I laid my weary head down.... (Chorus again).... end
