[Verse 1] Get a little older in life, you start to see clear Who was there for the ride, who just wanted a tier Some came with a smile and a hand full of tricks Some talk love real sweet, then they turn real quick I learned to read the room by the way that it froze By the side-eye glance and the fake-ass pose Some are sly, some are just hoes Pick your poison as you go One wrong sip and it shows One bad mix and it grows [Pre-Chorus] So I keep my guard up Keep my circle tight I seen a soft word hide a sharp knife When the truth come through, it don't need a show If the vibe feel wrong, then you already know [Chorus] Friend or foe Friend or foe Pick your poison as you go Friend or foe Friend or foe Don't let the snake get close Friend or foe Friend or foe I can feel it in my bones Friend or foe Friend or foe Don't let it grab your throat [Verse 2] Been around the block, seen the grin turn thin Seen a cold little lie wear a warm skin A lotta hands reach out when the road is good Then they vanish real fast when the floor won't hold I don't beg no love I don't force no trust If the words don't match then the future won't budge If you come with the coil, I see through the coat I don't feed that grin and I don't play the goat [Pre-Chorus] So I keep my guard up Keep my circle tight I seen a soft word hide a sharp knife When the truth come through, it don't need a show If the vibe feel wrong, then you already know [Chorus] Friend or foe Friend or foe Pick your poison as you go Friend or foe Friend or foe Don't let the snake get close Friend or foe Friend or foe I can feel it in my bones Friend or foe Friend or foe Don't let it grab your throat [Bridge] Time taught me patience Time taught me bite Not every close hand means it's holding right If you came in peace, then stand in the light If you came with a scheme, then step out my sight [Final Chorus] Friend or foe Friend or foe Pick your poison as you go Friend or foe Friend or foe Don't let the snake get close Friend or foe Friend or foe I can feel it in my bones Friend or foe Friend or foe Don't let it grab your throat
