Back in my spaces (mental health parody)
🎤 “Back in My Spaces” — Updated Final Version Verse 1 Blame it all on my stay, Now I’m home but my brain Still is running that MSR pace. Yeah, I walk through the door, But my thoughts beg for more— Like a schedule I still have to chase. I keep checking the time, Like there’s some sort of sign, Or a meeting I swear I’m late for. Yeah, the calm should be mine, But my mind’s stuck in line— Like I never quite walked out that door… Chorus ’Cause I’ve got friends back in their places, Fighting midnight thoughts and nightly races. There’s no M H T who comes in and chases Their sleep away… But they’ll be okay.~~ Yeah, I’ve got friends back in their places, Where their tired brains get put through the paces. Now I’m back home, the quiet replaces The structure of my day… Still I’ll be okay. Verse 2 Well, I dropped all my stuff, And it still feels rough— Like I’m waiting for someone to check in. Yeah, I stare at the walls, Hear imaginary calls, Like the chaos is tryin’ to begin. Then my fridge starts to hum, And my thoughts all go numb, Like it’s signin’ groups ’bout to wander through. Though I’m home on my own, I still glance at my phone, Like there’s something I’m still s’posed to do… Chorus ’Cause I’ve got friends back in their places, Fighting midnight thoughts and nightly races. There’s no M H T who comes in and chases Their sleep away… But they’ll be okay.~~ Yeah, I’ve got friends back in their places, Where their tired brains get put through the paces. Now I’m back home, the quiet embraces A mind that won’t obey… Still I’ll be okay. Bridge Well, I’m back in my room, But the silence goes “boom,” ’Cause I’m used to the chatter and the stress. Every habit I knew, Everything that I do Left my mind in a structured kind of mess. Now my mornings feel slow, And I don’t always know How to function without the old routine… But I’ll settle in soon, Find a new kind of tune— Till my system resets in between. Final Chorus ’Cause I’ve got friends back in their places, Fighting midnight thoughts and nightly races. There’s no M H T who comes in and chases Their sleep away… But they’ll be okay.~~ Yeah, I’ve got friends back in their places, Where their tired brains get put through the paces. Returning home in familiar spaces, But stuck in old MSR ways… I’ll figure it someday.
